Pre-Applied Thread Locking Adhesives For large quantities, it is tedious and expensive to apply the liquid thread locker from a bottle during assembly. It can be messy. The chemical locking compound is contained in microcapsules. The pre-applied threadlocker remains inactive until the coated fastener is assembled onto the mating part. During the assembly, the micro capsules burst, initiating the polymerization process, curing quickly at room temperature. Thus, providing reliable locking and sealing. Pre-coating is usually possible up to about M20. It is always done 360° around the screw thread and has the advantage of being able to move certain impurities in the nut or internal thread. Hence, it is “self-purifying,” however, it only works to a limited extent. For repairs, new pre-coated screws must be used, old ones may be used, if they are fully cleaned and a liquid thread locker is applied during re-assembly. It is recommended for fasteners with thread sizes equal to or larger than M16 . It’s low Coefficient of Friction provides lower installation torque values. Color: yellow Precote® 80 is a high strength and high temperature resistant thread locking and sealing coating used on external or internal threaded fasteners. Color: red Precote® 85 is a high strength and high temperature resistant thread locking and sealing coating for all types of threaded fasteners. Precote® 85 has a very low coefficient of friction providing a controlled torque/ tension relationship. It can be applied to either internal or external threaded fasteners.
