116 THE DISTRIBUTOR’S LINK IFI SOARING EAGLE AWARDS 2021 from page 38 The 2021 Soaring Eagle Meritorious Service Award Recipient is Laurin Baker The IFI Soaring Eagle Meritorious Service Award is named after George S. Case, Sr. It recognizes individuals who have contributed outstanding time and effort in the leadership of the Industrial Fasteners Institute and/or contributed to the health and well-being of the entire industrial fastener industry. Laurin Baker is recognized for his many years of outstanding service to the institute representing and protecting IFI’s interests in Washington, DC. Laurin’s expertise in navigating international trade, tariffs, environmental and tax policies has greatly benefited the interests of the Institute’s member companies, their employees and fastener users the world over. He has provided visibility of the IFI and its members to the U.S. House and U.S. Senate representatives of IFI’s members, and to other lobbyists and governmental agencies involved in issues of the utmost importance to the Institute. Laurin’s tireless work in coordinating and leading the coalition of IFI members, fastener distributors and North American fastener users resulted in the significant reform and improvement of the Fastener Quality Act. The culmination of his efforts on behalf of the IFI members and the North American fastener industry and users will continue to benefit future generations. THE DISTRIBUTOR’S LINK 117 TriMas announces the retirement of Robert (Bob) Zalupski as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Scott Mell was appointed as Chief Financial Officer, effective May 1, 2021. He will report to Thomas Amato, TriMas President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Zalupski, who has served in finance leadership roles within TriMas for 19 years, and as its Chief Financial Officer since January 2015, joined TriMas in 2002. Over the years, he played a critical role in a number of the Company’s strategic and financial business initiatives, which included leading global cash management, capital allocation and capital structuring initiatives, as well as managing numerous acquisitions, divestitures and a spin-off. He has been an instrumental member of TriMas’ leadership team, and vital to the development and successful execution of the Company’s business strategies. Mr. Mell joins TriMas with more than 25 years of strategic leadership and financial management experience. Since 2018, he has served as Managing Director of Recovery & Transformation Services for Riveron, working on a variety of projects across a diverse set of industries. In this role with Riveron, he has led important projects at TriMas over the past three years to support continuous improvement efforts within TriMas’ Packaging and TriMas’ Aerospace segments.
