56 THE DISTRIBUTOR’S LINK OBITUARY John Longyear formally from Metric & Multistandard passed away June 2, 2021 after a year and a half battle with pancreatic cancer. John started his fastener career at Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. of Elmsford, NY in May of 1972. His talents and know how were quickly recognized and John was promoted to be the first Assistant Manager in Metric & Multi’s history. The ownership of Metric & Multi recognized what they had in John and Chris and decided this was a great opportunity to open a branch somewhere in the South West, the obvious choice was Dallas. In 1976, John and Chris drove their Lotus from NY to Texas and opened our Dallas branch. In March 2019, after 47 years of excellent service at Metric & Multi, John and Chris retired. In his retirement, they enjoyed traveling, going to restaurants, playing golf, spending quality time with his daughter Serena and his 2 grandchildren. John was heavily involved with the SWFA where he was the Treasurer in 1990 and Chairman in 1991. He then returned to be the Treasurer from 2011-2013 and was a fixture at all the SWFA events until his retirement. John will be greatly missed not only by his co-workers at Metric & Multi, but anyone who knew him in the fastener industry.
