Rossi, Marketing Services Supervisor The electrification of the world is happening now – helping to reduce energy usage, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and save money for consumer. We’re seeing electrification everywhere, perhaps the most across all parts of the automotive sector. As the electrification of vehicles rapidly accelerates, a multitude of global teams at PEM® have been hard at work developing new innovations that position us as the market leader in electrical connectivity fastening technology. Through close engineering partnerships with some of the world’s top brands, we’ve developed the PEM® eConnect fastening technology – the world’s first captive fasteners for current carrying. About PEM ® eConnect Technology The PEM® eConnect technology is a first-to-market technology that is helping our customers develop new captive fastening solutions for their toughest electrical applications. Simply put, it is a fastener or group of fasteners that form part of the electrical circuit and are designed to carry current in the application. eConnect technology is ideal for use in power electronics applications both on vehicle and off. Some common applications where maximum performance can be achieved SELF-CLINCHING PIN FOR METAL BUSBAR [ABOVE], BROACHING & FLARING PIN FOR PCB [BELOW] includes busbar (busbar to busbar, busbar to cable, busbar to PCB) and PCB (PCB to PCB or PCB to cable). The technology enables customers to mechanically connect electrical components in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective way. The first product now available from the eConnect portfolio is the PEM® eConnect Pin. About the PEM ® eConnect Pin Since introducing the eConnect Pin to market, it’s been proven to reduce labor costs, shorten assembly time, and optimize joint quality. A quick look at the top benefits of the technology: ¤ No Hot Spots or Poor Conductivity Joint has an electrical resistance of less than 100 μΩ ¤ Quick and Secure Installation Installs quickly into any busbar or PCB ¤ Range of Captivation Options Available Including standard pin, clinch, broach or SMT With customers requiring good conductivity and connectivity, good shock/vibration performance, and the need meet various industry standards, it can be a big challenge to take on new joint designs. In today’s market, very few cost-effective options exist – and traditional attachment methods like soldered or loose components do not meet the requirements for reliable performance.
